Conservation: Obviously there are various environmentalist groups that try to make new laws limiting the Squid fishing. In California one Karen Garrison, senior policy analyst for the NRDC (National Resources Defense Council) spoke out saying "Squids are too important to California's ocean ecosystem, to let them go the way of the sardine." (there are very few sardines left after years of catching and fishing.)
